Hi,
I am kind of new to dieting and I have a strange question. I am 5 ft 7 I weigh about 150lbs, and I have been trying to do this South Beach diet, and it is almost exactly like the atkins.I am trying to loose around 15 lbs quickly. I find it very hard to limit all of my potatoes so I limit them.
What I am trying to get at is when I am reading the back of labels I know I have to watch the fat, sugars, and carbs, but what is the most effective thing to watch? I get really confused.
Thak you so much for your help.

The most effective item to watch on labels in my opinion is Carbs. This is the one that turns to fat if you do not burn what you eat. I don't suggest that you eliminate carbs...just lower your intake of them. I find that I can lose weight with just keeping an eye on Carb intake. I have used this theory for over 20 years now. I am female and approaching 50 yet I still weigh 120 lbs. My 30th Class Reunion was enlightening. Alot of over-weight classmates. I was still in a size 5...can't say that for most of the class. Good Luck
