Hi everyone, I am a newbie but i have been reading a lot of your posts. Everyone seems so supportive. I kind of started Atkins yesterday but I'm not real sure about the rules of the induction phase and is this the right program for me?????
Any info would really help. I need to lose 30 pounds ASAP!!!!

Well for me I have tried low cal/low fat and lost 30lbs (last summer). Unfortunately I gained back 10 and had a hard time trying to lose it this summer, lack of exercising and eating out way too much! But counting calories works for me. I stay under 1200 calories and 25 fat grams. Only you will know if you can deal with Atkins or not. I couldn't live without my yogurt, fruit, and veggies. Good Luck!

Hi-
I am a newbie to the boards but not to weight loss- I lost 74lbs over about 8 months. Combo of Atkins, Water and walking. HOWEVER- word of warning- the quick loss resulted in me getting Gall Stones- this is a side effect, so be careful. I did my own modified verson of Atkins- no bread or starch, but allowed myself bananas and oranges- no simple sugars and LOTS of WATER- no soda. Oh- and lots of Fiber. Basic diet went like this:
Breakfast: bowl of bran flakes & 1/2 Banana glass of Orange Juice
Lunch- 1 plain chicken breast, Water w/ Lemon
Dinner- green salad with Tuna- plain, no dressing- water w/ lemon
6 Liters of Water a Day
I got off track after the gall stone surgery and now am back on - trying the use of CLA.
