Hey everyone,
I had an idea and I set it to work! I print out a calendar for each month. I get or buy a stamp, every day I do good I get a stamp. Every day I do bad I write "B" for bad. I try to get less and less of B's and more and more of my stamps! I have no clue why I do this but it is fun! LOL

Ear, can I make a suggestion? Well, I am going to anyhow, lol! I think that for every month that you have at least, say, 25 stamps, you should reward yourself- hey its a great incentive, in fact I am thinking I will copy your idea and add mine to it... WOO HOO a reward every month sounds GOOD to me!!!

First Off,
I like my idea. Whatever I can do that will HELP me stay on track I will do. It keeps me looking forward to getting a whole month of stamps. I know you all were not laughing at me myself (I hope), but I think my idea is good.
I will reward myself....but not with food. I will reward myself with something I have wanted and stuff like that. Not BIG stuff but nice stuff. Sorry some of you though my idea was bad, but I like it! :)

I have already printed out an October calendar... I have little smiley face stickers and I am just trying to think of what my reward will be. Maybe a bouquet of flowers... yeah, I like that, flowers it is. Of course today is not a "smiley-face day" , so I don't know that I will hit 25 days this month. I wasn't kidding when I said I liked the idea, (ok, think Sally Field here...) I really like it!

I am now implementing a new "success plan" to ensure my success. I have typed up three weeks worth of Induction menus to follow so that I have a visual reminder of what I need to eat. I don't think I have followed Induction quite right- I did for the first week and lost 6 lbs, then relaxed a bit and slowed right down. For each day that I follow the meal plan without any slip-ups, I get a star (you know, just like they used to give you in elementary school when you did well!!) Then at the end of the month, if I have done well at least 80% of the days, I get to treat
myself. I have to have also done well on the exercising, which won't be hard because I am hooked into that completely now and look forward to it- I find that my one day off, I want to workout anyhow, but I'm not because I know that my body needs the day to rest. So this is my new success plan... thanks Ear for giving me the idea!
I know it probably seems SILLY to a lot of people, but I am very much a person who needs to see it on paper to make it work. It stops me from making excuses, because I feel like I have really committed to it when it's written down. Does that make sense to anyone else?

That is a good idea :)
I have been dieting for over a year and have lost quite a bit but never recorded my good vs bad days. For me (if I did record) a good reward would be an exercise video or something else that will encourage me to go even further on my mission.
As for food for 'rewards' you should never consider food a reward anyway, losing weight for life is not a diet but a lifestyle change and we all have good and bad days (just take a look at your calendar .. lol) I read that even if you have 65 bad days in a year you still have those 300 good days which is a good way to look at it, the key is not to let the bad days throw you off but just get back up and continue where you left off.

Chip: I'm with you on starting induction over. I'm presently on day #4. I bought the Atkins book this time and upon really taking the time to read it--I found that I was committing "no-no's" during induction all the while; assuming it was allowed! I guess when I got the book the first time from the Library I was just in a hurry to learn the basics and get quick results. Now I've figured out what I was doing wrong and it's going much better this time. I'm sad to report that when I weighed myself on Monday morning I was 154 (up from 145) which was probably due to my liberal carb eating over the weekend. I'm happy to report that as of this morning; I'm now down to 147--which is atleast in the right direction! Maybe it's all water; maybe not. I'm just glad the #'s are going down! I know I shouldn't be weighing myself already--but I needed some incentive to keep going; so why not????
Ear: I think your calendar is a great idea!!! I don't think that anyone meant to offend you! I'll admit; when I first read your post--it remindedme of my kids "to do" chart! But there is absolutely nothing wrong with you idea--I say do whatever works! I hope that you weren't hurt by anyone's remards--I'm sure they were all in good fun! :)
