:wave; Sue! I was just wondering if you ever figured out where your back pain was coming from. I've been having a lower (right above tailbone--predominant on one side) off and on for a couple of days now. I thought maybe it was from our hiking this past weekend. But, I'm also doing Atkins and wondered if it is the lack of potassium. I'm getting ready to order some vitamins and thought I might get some supplements. If so--which is better: potassium, potassium citrate or potassium magnesium aspartate? Thanks in advance for your reply!

Hi Jenny, no I never figured it out but the dr had said it was because of the diet. it went away when I added OJ and bananna to my diet. then last night I had it again. I am walking a lot so that could have something to do with it. not sure. I take vitamins and calcium and all. I know that its very painful. I never had it befor the diet so Im sure its something we are lacking.
hope yours feels better. try bannana and oJ. I know we are not supposed to have that but I think atkins is really strict and hard to do.
good luck . let me know how you are doing.

Thanks for responding so quickly, Sue! I'm not sure if it's the diet or from exercising--all I know is that its annoying! It's not really pain--just an ache that comes now & then-----it's uncomfortable to sit or even lie down. Actually it feels better when I'm up and walking! I guess I worry about it mostly because osteoporosis runs in my family and I don't want to go down that road; I'll take steps to prevent it now! I thought maybe if I took potassium supp. I could still follow Atkins to the T. But, it seems lately that when I allow myself a few extra good carbs; that's when I see a loss on the scale. When I stick to 20 or below---the scale doesn't budge! I'm on day #12 so adding those things in over the next couple of days shouldn't be a problem!

maybe I just spend too much time sitting on my butt, huh??LOL

I'll keep you updated!

Jen
