I have been doing a high protein, low carb diet for the past 3 weeks now. I went from 152 to 142. This past week I began limiting my calories to about 1200, and began incorporating some healthy carbs (such as an apple) once a day. However, once I did that my weight went up to 145. Is that normal?
I am also assuming that I have been working out this past week consistently, so could the extra gain be due to muscle, especially so soon?
One more question: though I limited my calories down to 1200, I usually find myself around 600-800 cal at the end of the day (well at 6 pm cause I don't eat after 6). I spend the day eating meals/snacks till I am comfortably full, and at night I am not hungry either. I usually eat something so my cal count won't be low enough for me to go into starvation mode, yet I am not hungry. Should I eat something, or listen to my body?
Thanks for any advice :)

I'd guess you are just having water weight fluctuations. I've had an apple everyday this week except today, so I'm not gonna recommend not having them! How are your clothes fitting?
I did two weeks of induction on Atkins. I started at 200 lbs and after 8 days, I weighed 188. I was excited, but the next day I weighed 193. The next day 196. I stayed there until day 14. It was weird, for I was exercising and staying under 1,500 calories and under 20 grams of carbs -w- no cheating.
I quit doing Atkins and instead did a low cal/reduced carb diet that tends to be about 1,200 calories a day. I'm down to 185.4 now and it's not even been a week. Atkins was working a bit, but I couldn't risk not losing weight steadily, for winter is upon us and I gotta fit into some clothes. Got about 5 more pounds and I can fit almost anything in my closet comfortably.
I'm gaining strength and endurance in the gym, so I'm not shrinking my muscles. My biceps were 16.5" last measurement.
I'm a male, 5'11.5" with a muscular build

Hi there,
I would think you need to eat 1200, minimum. The problem with listening to your body (and trust me I know) is that you can train yourself to not be hungry hardly at all. And diets are the best way to do it. Unforuntately, your body is still lacking the nutrients it needs, even if your stomach doesn't think you are hungry. when you're eating through the day, I would just add something else to the meal. If you eat 5 times a day, just add something that 100-125 calories more to each meal, and you'll have it. Maybe a piece of cheese, or a yogurt, something like that. Good luck! :D
