o.k, let's go through them one by one.
(and before anyone disagrees with me---just my personal experiences.)
pill. convenient, but they can mess with your hormones,(weight gain etc.) and i got pregnant on them!
iud. i would really not recommend them unless you never want/or already have, children. they carry a small risk of infertility, especially if you are at risk of stds.
diaphragm. if your weight fluctuates, they stop fitting, they kill the mood cos you have to preplan sex.
female condoms. i hate them! i could never get them to fit without a struggle and they felt gross!!
the mirena iud is a good choice, it releases a tiny amount of hormone so you actually get birth control twice.
there are so many types of pill that you can always trial and error your ideal type.
good luck with your choice!

Hi,
Well thank you for your response. I have researched the iud. I was shocked at the fact that it can cause infertility because my mom had one years ago and then got pregnant suddenly upon the removal of the iud. The mirena iud is something I have never heard of. I will research that today.
The pill I have had bad experiences with, however, I have heard a lot of good things about this Yasmin.
Never used diaphragm or female condoms.
I was thinking of using nothing but spermicide.
I know my cycles so well that I thought maybe that would be an extra precaution. But I dont really trust it one hundred percent.
The rhythm method and w/drawal has worked for us for 3 years so far. But dont want to take anymore chances.
I would like to have sex w/ my husband w/out any worries at all.
Okay ladies..keep the replies coming. LOL
Thanks

OK I'm new here this is my second post and this is my opinion only :)
Ultimately the decision is yours. Depending on your age, smoking habits, and general health there are some choices out there.
For me and my Husband the last three years we've used the rhythm method, however I also know that my adhesions and scar tissue etc, are causing infertility in any event. I still get the spooks now and again.
Not that anyone want's unnecessary surgery but
Are you finished having children and how old are you?
What about having your tubes tied? What about Hubby getting a Vasectomy?
I've had such bad experiences with hormones in the past I will never get on them again BUT and it's a big one, I am having other problems with Endometriosis outside the pelvic cavity and mass adhesions causing severe bowel problems so I'm looking into a total and complete hysterectomy with Adholysis (adhesion surgery).
What about that new patch? Was that already mentioned? Seems pretty good or the shot that last three months. With the shot (my girlfriend with Endo just got her first one) she has migrains and it's very low if non-existant with Estrogen so it's supposed to be very effective and more tolerable with less side effects.
Good Luck and God Bless with whatever you decide. If We're really in the mood etc and I'm ovulating we use a condom and it's not so bad at all as far as dampering the Mood!

Hi,
Well, I am 31 and will be 32 soon. I dont have kids and not sure if I want kids. So that poses a problem in itself. LOL
My husband is too young for a vasectomy. He is only 21.
I have heard of the patch and not sure if I want to do that either. As you can tell I am very indecisive in most areas of my life. LOL
The funny thing is that while reading your post I thought I was reading my own post. LOL I dont know if I have scar tissue but has been something I thought about because of a past abortion. I am going to ask to check out for all of that. And if that is why i have not got pregnant again since I was 17 then i will let stay there.

It was absolutely horrible. He could not get to my cervix and kept digging to try to get to it. He said my cervix was sitting too close to my spine.
Seriously I was coming off the table. He kept saying come down to the end of the table...I was like I cant...
So he did refer me to a fertility clinic and we will finally find out if I can have kids...
Then from there I will figure out this birth control issue.

I'm sorry that your appt was so difficult.
When was the last time you had a Gyn appt? I'm sorry also to hear about your abortion. Regardless of the reason it's a hard thing to deal with.
Hopefully you will get some answers at the fertility clinic. I went through fertility testing for two years before I had my laparoscopy and the adhesions were found.
You have a young Husband :), I was just thinking out loud all the possibilities and indeed 21 is too young for a Vasectomy.
When is your appt? I hope your feeling ok as for now and BC Condoms with the rhythm method seem to be the best choice. That way your hormones are yours when testing is going on.
Best of Luck and God Bless
Jessica (32 will be 33 in July but went the other way Hubby is going to be 43 in May! LOL)

Jessica,
My last gyno was in Sept 2002 and all came back normal. I dont know what the problem is this time. I understand it the fact that it was sitting really close to my spine. I went by myself and I normally go w/ my husband. At least that way he can help me relax ya know. I just felt really awkward.
Thanks for the kind words about my abortion...i was young and scared. But if i could do it over again..I would be the mother of a 14 year old. :) And really in my mind I still am.
I am not sure when my appointments are going to be. My husband is still 2 1/2 weeks away from home right now.He is military. And really wants to be there when all of this is done..so i am hoping we can get is scheduled for April. I really need his support and he is so mature to be 21. LOL Well sometimes...but I am definitely the childish one in this relationship..spoiled rotten by him. :) But not complaining.
Take Care and will keep you updated.
