I was just switched to Yasmin, after being on Demulen for a year.
Any comments good/bad please. I am concerned about weight gain, acne, and mood swings.
Also any thoughts on Alesse?

I am using Yasmin. I don't have any issues with acne. I am not sure I can really blame my weight gain on the Pill itself though I do blame the weight gain on my PMS symptoms. While I don't have any of the physical symptoms of PMS (swollen, tender breasts, cramps), I am incredibly moody and I think that IS the Yasmin.
I have no taken the other two pills you talked about though so I cannot compare.

How long have you been on Yasmin? Have you spoken to your doctor about your moods? Do you feel lethargic and/or depressed on the Yasmin? These are also concerns of mine, as it has happened to me in the past on another pill.

I have been taking Yasmin for a little over a year.
I was uncomfortable with the ob/gyn who originally prescribed the new Pill (an older gentleman) and needed a new ob/gyn anyway (I don't think he's going to be around to see me through any pregnancies in the next few years) so I spoke with both a general physcian and another ob/gyn. Both suggested I take an anti-depressant. I'm uncomfortable with the idea of taking a Pill to counter-act the side effts of another Pill and so I declined. I'm considering visiting yet another ob/gyn as I'm not sure I was clear enough that the new Pill seems to be causing these feelings.
Yes, I feel lethargic/depressed on Yasmin. My moods tend to swing from 'generally happy' to 'feeling like used dog poo'. In fact, for a majority of the week before and the week of my period, I'm at the low end of that spectrum; I'm fine the rest of the month.
But, other ladies have reported feeling great and you'll only ever know if you try it yourself.

Hated Alesse, made me very depressed. So far so good with the Yasmin in terms of mood. My theory is you` just have to keep trying until you find the right one. And even when you do find the right one, sometimes your body changes after a while. Good luck.

Alesse is much higher in androgenicity than Yasmin, so if you have problems with hormonal acne or excess body hair, Yasmin is a better choice.
