I just started taking OrthoCyclin for the first time yesterday. I started the pills on the first day of my period. My question is for those of you who started their BCP on the first day of their period, did they have an extra long period (longer than the normal 5-7 days)?

I took Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, which is different from what you are taking. I didn't start on the day of my period. But when I was on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, my periods were lighter and shorter (about 4 days average).

I always have longer than 7 day periods so I'm not the best person to ask. But doing day 1 start its always lasted longer than 7 days.

p.s. it is also a common side effect to spot the first month...

When I was on OrthoCyclin I had 8-9 day periods EVERY period! I was on them for a little over a year I was 18 and I figured I'll take a 9 day period over being pregnant. and then my Doctor told me that It was just the pill so I switched and now about 4-6 days is the norm. and when I start my pills the day my period started my period that month was about 4 days long. But everyone is different!
