hi ladies,
is anyone on orthotricyclen lo, as opposed to orthotricyclen. I just started 2 days ago and am hoping that it will help with acne and regulate my periods/hormones, because i don't have a period because my body doesn't produce hardly any estrogen and i have really oily skin...i need advice..thanks

I'm wondering too! I'm starting OTC-Lo for the first time today, and I'm really worried about weight gain. So far, the regular OTC, Mircette, and Yasmin have all made me gain weight. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif Yasmin was terrific for my skin, though. I'm really hoping that I can finally stick to a BCP!!

I've been on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for 3 weeks. I haven't had any problems with it yet. It's helped clear my skin up a lot.

I just heard about OTC-LO yesterday so I'm totally in the dark about it - I'd love to know about the experiences any other ladies have on it. I'm the same as TimDream, regular OTC and Mircette made me gain weight..so did Loestrin 1/20. I'm currently on Yasmin and although I haven't gained weight...I do experience some calf and arm pain. That's pretty much the extent of the bothersome side effects though - I actually lost weight on it (could be because every 3rd week I get nausea? ) lol.
I'm also interested in anyone who's tried Alesse and Levlite to see how they worked out.

Micheguns, I've been on OTC and Ortho Evra. I use it for protection, period regulation, and acne.

I have been on Orthotryclen Lo for about 4 months now and love it....I have not had any weight gain like I did with other types of bc pills. I don't have an acne problem, but my face hardly ever breaks out. The side effects aren't as bad as they use to be with other bc pills. I use to get bad migraines with other pills, and now I hardly ever have a headache. All of you should give this pill a few months....you will like it. I have tried almost all of them, and this one is definitely my favorite.

BlueJewelEyes, that is really wonderful news to hear!! I am finishing up my first week on OTC-Lo and I am loving it so far. The weight from the Yasmin is dropping off, and my face is still clear. Yeah! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I went on Ortho-Lo and I put on about 7 pounds in two months. I know it's a lower dose of estrogen but I'm a pretty small person (only 5 feet) so that's probably why it affected me like that. Once I realized why I put on the weight, I swiftly stopped and I'm not on anything now.

I have been on OTC lo starting my second month and so far no bad side effects at all. I'm taking it to regulate my cycle after that nasty depo. I was on the normal strength OTC a few years ago and also loved it-cleared my face up enormously.

I was on Orthotricyclen-lo for 3 months before I noticed any side effects, but then it got scary. I was switched unexpectedly, but was told that these pills were exactly the same--only they didn't turn out to be the same fore me. The third month was when I started to have problems that really freaked me out. After normal everyday sex with my boyfriend I would start to bleed and it would last for about a day or two. This really freaked me out because I have never had any problems before, but then I started to worry a lot. I especially started to worry when I started to bleed and it didn't stop. This bleeding was even heavier than when I have my periods, but it never stopped and I continued to bleed for 2 weeks right up until my period started and then I had another week of bleeding. Although, this didn't last long because by then I was taking the "sugar" pills, so I wasn't getting any hormones. My doctor told me it was nothing to worry about when I called her and she switched me back to regular pills. She told me that some people just react differently to different pills. I can say though-- on a good note--there was no weight gain while on this pill http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif but I would never go back on it again because of the experience I had with it. I hope everyone else has better luck than I did. (Sorry about the long story)
