I'm on Yasmin and I forgot to take yesterday's pill, I'm in the third week of hormone pills (3 before the end). In the instruction leaflet it says that one of the options for forgetting one in the third week is to stop NOW for the 7-day placebo break and then continue on the next pack as normal. No other contraception needed.
That means I'll only have taken 18 hormone pills in a row before my break. Am I understanding correctly? Will I still be protected against pregnancy? I thought you needed to take 21 (or more) to be safe.
Please answer! *Thanx*

Yeah the directions can be confusing. The main thing I get from reading mine is if you forget any of the active pills you may become pregnant for 7 days after that and to use back up birth control such as condoms or spermicides as back up for those 7 days. Then it says if you are still not sure about what to do about the pills you have missed to use a back up method until you can reach your doctor or healthcare provider. It also says if you forget 1 to take it as soon as you remember and you may end up taking two in one day. Mine doesn't say anything about missing one in the 3rd week. It mentions missing 2 in the 3rd week. So to be safe I would say take two today and then keep taking them as normal after that and use another form of birth control for the next 7 days to be on the safe side.
