I have been on ortho-tri-cyclen-lo, for the past 3 months. Before that, I was on ortho-tri-cyclen. I have been very moody, for the past year, especially for the past 3 months. I have heard about a pill called Ovcon 35, which is a low dose pill, but I cannot find very much info on it. Is anyone currently on this pill that could offer some advise about it? Also I have had Displysia for the second time. I will be going in on August 1st to have LEEP procedure done. I had Cryo already, and that did not work. Does anyone have any advise on this as well? Thanks for all your help!

I was never really a moody person, even when I had PMS. That all changed when I got on Ortho-tri-cyclen. At the end of every month I would bawl over the slightest things and would fight with my boyfriend over just about anything. My doctor told me that was not normal so she switched me to Mircette. That turned out to be even worse. Next was Ovcon 35. Since it has the same amount of hormones every week, I was constantly depressed. Every day was torture because I felt like my whole life was going down the drain. I could only stay on it for about 4 months and then got off of birth control completely. I felt SO much better! I was actually happy again! So then I went and messed it all up by getting on the patch. It has the same hormones as any other birth control. My boyfriend and I faught a lot those few months too.
So I decided that all birth control pills make me crazy and I have vowed never to take them again. I am a free woman who has natural hormones! yay! I am married now (to my boyfriend who had to put up with me all those years) and I am enjoying life.
Artificial hormones just dont work for some women. If they make you depressed, chances are the next kind will too.
Good luck.

I don't really know anything about that brand of birth control but it's worth trying to switch to a lower dose pill. Ortho tri cyclen is a rather high dose pill, and the hormone levels change every week which can drive some people crazy. I'm currently in Mircette and it's worked out very well for me. It's a low dose pill and the hormone levels stay the same every week. I'd suggest trying Mircette, Alesse, or Yasmin out.

I just saw my doc on Friday. I told him about the depression I was having, and he switched me to Ocvon 35. I just started it, so it will be awhile before I know if it helps or not. I have read that Ovcon 35 is hard for the pharmacey to get. Hopefully I will not have a problem getting a generic if they cannot get Ovcon 35.
