A couple of weeks ago I took antibiotics for gardnerella. Since then I've been afraid of developing a yeast infection. I haven't seen any sort of discharge but in the last 4 or 5 days, I've been kind of itchy down there. At certain times of the day I don't feel it at all and other times, especially in the morning or at night I feel it more. I keep checking for the white-ish discharge and there isn't any. Everything looks good on the surface, except it does look a tiny bit more red than normal. Could I have a yeast infection without any discharge? could it be something else? I won't have time to go and see my doctor until at least the middle of next week. She did call in a yeast infection pill to the pharmacy for me to have just in case I developed one from the antibiotics. Should I just go ahead an take it or wait some more and see what happens???

If it's just on the outside try getting some canestin cream from the drugstore (it's the stuff that is sold with yeast infection kits, but it's just the cream) i had the same problem and that's what worked, if it doesn't work than you can still go see the doctor, but it's something to try in the meantime. Also, next time you take antibiotics try eating lots of yougert (make sure it says live cultures on the ingretients list) or acedopholis (my spelling is probably way off) pills to avoid any problems next time.

You could possibly have a yeast infection without the discharge at this time but since the itching is minimal you may want to try the yeast infection cream externally to see if that helps. I always keep a tube on hand for any little itch that pops up in the genital area. Women should always be eating plenty of yogurt with live active cultures or taking the acidophillis capsules or sprinkles routinely to keep the digestive and vaginal tract healthy at all times. This should just be part of your daily routine all year around.

I have had yeast infections with no discharge and only the itch. I have also had yeast infections with no discharge and no itch and the only reason i knew it was yeast was b/c sex was painful and internally i felt as though i had been rubbed with sandpaper. I always prefer to have tests done rather than self medicating, but as the last poster stated, it's good to always have a tube of cream on hand at home.
