This is my first time posting on these boards. I'm so glad I have a place to come because I have so much junk going on right now. I have been told I have a dermoid on my right ovary. I am having it out along with my uterus because of a fibroid tumor. Dermoids are the strangest cysts known to human kind! I'm a bit freaked out to be honest. Anyone one else out there ever had one removed?

My mum had one removed when she was about 18 - it was quite large and resulted in the removal of her ovary. I totally agree...they are bizarre! What sort of treatment are they going to do?
My mum tells this story that when she was 18, she still hadnt ever had a period, and went to the doctor. The cyst was so large she had quite a tummy from it (she even wore bathers with those skirt things to try and hide her tummy). Anyway, the doctor was convinced she was pregnant! Which she very much denied since she was a virgin!
Anyway, here she is 35 years later, with three children. Good luck with it, I'm sure you will be fine, and I wouldnt worry about it too much. Eventually you'll probably be like my mum and tell it as this bizarre story!
