View Full Version : Pills and breakthrough bleeding

I've been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for many years now and I tend to have some very minor breakthrough spotting in the middle or towards the end of every month.

It's barely noticeable and doesn't bother me too much, but I'm wondering what exactly this might mean. I've read that women who have breakthrough bleeding on one type of pill should consider switching to a different pill with a higher dosage of estrogen, but I know Ortho Tri-Cyclen has 35 mcg, which I believe is one of the higher doses available?

I just wanted to make sure that the breakthrough spotting isn't a sign that the pill isn't working or anything bad like that. If anyone has any thoughts or info, I'd appreciate it!
