My nephew was stabbed and it cut through the stomach, arterial, and intestine. He was operated to restore the organs. He has been in the hospital for the past 15 days with tubes and cables for breathing, heart monitor, etc. After the operation he acquired pneumonia, the doctors has been giving him different types of antibiotics to control the fever but he is not getting better.

Does any of you have gone through something similar and be able to tell me if someone with pneumonia for almost 13 days will it get any better, if he does what could be the consequences with his health, or should I prepare myself for the worst. All I can do is hope, but I should be realistic to the options and be able to be strong for my sister. Thanks.

I had pneoumina and other things and it was serious. It lead into what is called ARDS-don't ever give up hope for when there is still breath in a person(weather mechincal or otherwise) there is hope. Please keep your chin up and keep me updated.
God Bless.

What kind of pneumonia? Bacterial? Viral? Mycoplasma? In any case, I hope the situation gets better. Don't rush recovery! Make sure he gets plenty of rest, at least a week after his temperature goes back to normal...If it is mycoplasma pneumonia, hopefully not, but if so, he may be weak for more than a week after his temperature goes back to normal. It will be difficult to get things back to "normal," but just don't rush!
