My left eye has been bothering me for about 2 days now. It's hard to explain but I'll try...
Its kinda 'sore' feeling behind the eye, and every now and then I will get this 'lightening-like/shooting-pain feeling' in my eye.
I went for my routine eye exam a few months ago and she didn't mention anything weird but an a stigmatism in one of my eyes. I have no idea if this would cause the weird ache I'm feeling or not, but I figured I'd mention it anyway.
Its not like an "eye headache" either like the kind you get when you read too long, etc. I've had those before and this is different.
Any thought? :)
Take care,
Lori

Common causes of pain behind the eye are:
a problem in the eye itself (an infection, irritation or injury).
optic neuritis (inflamation of the optic nerve)
a migraine headache (severe pain behind the eye)
sinus problems (pain either over or below the eye)
contact lenses
glaucoma may slowly lead to blindness if not treated

Call an eye doctor (an Ophthalmologist)if:
there is pain, redness, swelling, discharge, or pressure in the eye that persists - particularly if it affects vision.
the pain is severe or prolonged beyond 2 days.
eye pain is not associated with a viral illness or eyestrain.

Lori, do you wear any makeup near your eyes? Sometimes I experience a burning sensation in my eyes, and I thought it was because the computer radiation was taking it's toll on my vision. However, the nurse at my school did some tests, found out that I had 20/20 vision, and that perhaps makeup was causing it. I don't wear makeup, so that isn't it. I'm still trying to figure this one out. But maybe the makeup is it for you?
