Hi! :)
Ok, kindof an unusual question but here goes.
I know this woman who is 23 years old but looks literally 13! Everywhere she goes she is treated like a child, always carded for cigarettes/alcohol and sometimes even denied because they dont beleive her ID. It's not just a 'kind of look young' thing but a real horrible thing for her. She is 5' tall, probably AA cup, and just looks like a pre-teen. Maybe she just stopped growing at puberty..?
My questions are this:
Have any of you ever heard of this type of thing or know someone like this?
What tests do you think she should have done to test for what could be causing this?
Any ideas what could be causing this? Something hormonal perhaps?
I saw a show with someone with Turner's Syndrome and sparked my curiousity. If it's something that can be treated maybe with hormonal therapy or something I want to let her know!
Thank you any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :)
Take care,
Lori

Well she is the only one who can talk to her doctor and if her doctor sees her as ok then there isnt much that can be done.
I can understand because when I was 19 my hubby thought I was 15 when we met. I have always had that problem. Heck when I go into a bar I get carded at the door and then the servers will card me too. Heck I have been carded several times in the same bar. I am 26 now and have women make remarks while passing me saying I shouldnt have kids as young as I am. I shocked the daylights our of one by remarking back that 26 was not that young to have two kids.
It happens and those of us that look young just have to learn to deal with it. It is nice though to think I wont have to worry over wrinkles and such.
Have your friend talk to her doctor and see if he/she will run horomone level checks on her blood.

Thanks for your reply Whitewolf!
Yeah, that's a good thing when you are older while all your friends your age will be trying anything they can to look younger you wont have to deal with that ;)
Ok, I will let her know about the blood test thanks again!

I have a friend who had the same problem. She's 47 now, and still looks about twenty-five. Four foot ten, still wears junior sizes. Believe me, as I get older, I actually envy her! And she has several children and a husband who thinks she's wonderful as well.... :)

Hi!
I had this problem too, and I hated it at the time. Now that I'm 46 it's not bad at all! Hang in there!

I have the same problem. I'm 24 and I look about 19 or 20. I always get carded when I order a drink out. Also I was almost denied a waitress position. I had to tell them my age.

Being young looking has its disadvantages, especially if you're short and a AA cup. But when you get "over the hill," looking young has its advantages!

i have that problem too- im 20 and people think im 17, which isnt that bad. Im glad i look young, i know people that are 18 and they have that dragged down look on their face that makes them look 25 or something. i think its all about how you act too though.

Yes just because you look younger doesn't mean you're not mature.

hi,
both my ex-boyfriend and i have had the problem. they wouldn't let me enter the bar and a party store clerk took his license and he had to call the police to get it back. its not as bad as it used to be. she is lucky she looks so young.

Of course there are the adventages of looking young. But this woman that is originally posted about has an actual disorder. She completly stopped developing, I watched a show on it recently. I can't remember the name of the disorder, I'm also not a doctor. This woman on the show was having hormonal shots. She was about 27 looked 12-13. Your friend needs to see a doctor, there isn't anything she can do about it herself. I'm sorry that your friend is going through this, and i hope one day people can get past looks and accept her for who she is. The best thing you can do is be a good friend to her and support her in whatever she needs you to.
