I have recently started on synthroid for growths on my thyroid; however I was wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with nodules/cysts on thyroid, and then found out they had other hormone problems? I have been reading about the adrenals and stress. I have had severe headaches for over 10 yrs. I have had all of the tests ct scan of brain, mri of brain etc. all tests normal, but the headaches remain. I have also developed brown scar like areas on my face, and have gained weight 30 lbs in two months. I have been on so many of the "headache meds", and now I am scared for my marriage, and my sanity. I can't deal with the pain any longer... My endocrinologist seems to only be treating the thyroid. I have only seen him twice so far. Shouldn't he be testing other hormones??? I had a hysterectomy in 1993. My surgeon did not remove my ovaries. I am so tired by noon everyday, with alot of wrist/hand pain...I have a list for my next appt. I was just wondering if anyone else may have a similar situation? Any input would be great..
Thanks, Kathy

Kathy:
I have thyroid problems also and am still searching for answers. I do not have the nodules but have hypothyroid. (After many docs and my researching for answers....) I started with a complete hyst. and endometrosis removal quite a few years ago. After that, I started with the headaches and later migraines. No one had answers. My endocrinologist says I exhibit all the signs of adrenal/addison's, but my levels are ok. I would research on Addison's and see what you come up with - especially with pigmentation changes. I also had carpal tunnel just prior to my thyroid treatment. I still have it now and then, but not as often, nor as severe. They say just a blood-draw in the morning (for cortisol levels)is not reliable for proper diagnosis of adrenal dysfunction/addison's. Also, do a search for tests and see what you come up with. I am trying to get some answers myself on this. Good luck to you. I know how frustrating and tiring it can be. Dawn2

hi kathy...yesterday i was diagnosed w/ having stage 3 adreanl exhaustion. i am 33 and though have not had a hysterectomy, i have had for the past 3 yrs or so, many problems arise. every test i got back was "normal", i was sent home feeling like i must be imaging my symptoms, psycho symatic! until i found this woman a few weeks ago that w/ on meeting said she felt as though it was my adrenals. my endo didn't even say that!!!! i took a saliva test, @ 4 different times of the day. most health practicioners do not know anything about this test, which startles me. but there are many things that can be discovered thru our saliva!!! its amazing. i would like to suggest looking into that test. search under dr. kellman, that site talks about this test. if you let me know, i could give you my nutitionists email. good luck!!! cindy
also, dawn2, if you read this, please check for my post, i'd like to talk more about this :) thanks
