I had a diaphragmatic hernia repair done through laparoscopic surgery in October. When I woke up from anesthesia I had unbelievable pain in my left chest and arm and up into my neck. I thought I had had a heart attack! The doc assured me it was from the gas that they use to expand the abdominal cavity to use the scopes. He said the pain would subside in a week. Well, here we are 3 months later and still I have the pain, not all the time but off and on. If I lay on my left side it is worse, when I burp it is horrible! I have been back to the surgereon, to my regular doc and to a GI specialist and no one seems to know what this could be. I still have the symptoms of heartburn but all my tests are negative. Anyone have any ideas here? Any websites that I could go to and post on boards or talk with doctors. I am getting desperate for relief! I am now thinking that they damaged the nerve that runs through the diaphragm, don't know what kind of symptoms that would give but I am just trying to figure this thing out. Any help would be so much appreciated!
