O.K. NO COMMENTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY !!!! I am 35 yrs. old. I have been on 'The Pill' since age 17. I began to experience hair growth around my nipples probably in my early 20's (???). Anyway, not being 'real happy' about the whole thing, I have tweezed or shaved and have had to deal with a few ingrown hairs over the years. I am recently divorced and though my friend has never brought it up (my ex never complained either -- I NEVER let it grow out), I am feeling more uncomfortable than before. I would like some input {as I have searched Online and only found one reference to breast hair} as to (*)how usual this may be (*)how to stop it ... with little or NO money (*)or why it even happens... AGAIN....NO PEANUT GALLERY COMMMENTS AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVISE.

Hi,

Seriously, your post is too good to be true. I never thought that I would find someone else who suffered from this problem.

I am the same age as you, but do not take the pill. I have been using a razer too and do this quickly after showering at the same time as shaving my legs and underarms. Unfortunately, I have sometimes nicked my breast with the razor and have started bleeding. More fool me though.

I have always wondered what causes this like you, but have never found any research. I do wonder whether it is to do with hormone levels, as I do seem to have quite a lot of hair under my chin and on the top lip. I have also found it a little embarrassing, but I am lucky in that my boyfriend is very understanding. I have told him about this, but if it was not for me telling him he would not have noticed any difference when he touched my breasts. I have to say that he is a little bit blind and does take his glasses off when we make love.

Anyway, all joking apart, I would love to have more information about this problem and good for you for posting this.

Take care

Sarah

TAKO50366 And Super Sarah:

From info I've gleaned over the years (various novels, other non-fiction reading, medical reading, etc.), my understanding is that there is a very wide range of what is 'normal' regarding breast hair, from one or two hairs to a heavy circle of hair around the nipple. I don't think anything specifically causes it...just some people have more hair than others. Some people have hair that grows up from their pubic area towards their belly buttons, too, and this is also normal. Shaving probably isn't a good idea, as the skin around the nipple is very sensitive and you don't want to be creating scar tissue, either. Tweezing might be okay if you only have a few hairs, but, quite frankly, why bother? It's totally normal and the first time I heard about it was in a novel where the male hero was talking about how turned on he was by the light dusting of hair around his wife's nipples!

Think about this: do men shave under their arms for us? Do they shave their backs for us? NO. We're already shaving our legs and underarms, and bikini area...enough is enough!

Do a word search on Hirsutism.

It may be an endocrine system imbalance.
There may be several workable solutions to correct this.
