Have you tried a new mattress or one of those egg shell foam pads? I had that problem when I was sleeping on an inexpensive mattress.

I too suffered from hip pain at bedtime, so I decided to try a pillow placed between my knees to help align things... It worked !!!! I am no longer kept awake by tossing and turning trying to get comfortable to ease the pain... Do give it a try, I'm sure it may help you.

Sounds like a chronic hip bursitis problem.
I suppose its not too bothersome in the daytime?
Find a good, credible, well recommended chiropractor.
You may have a pelvis imbalance that is overworking the hip region and at night when you quit moving about the busae swells.
In the meantime watch to see if it gives you less trouble at the end of a day when you've layed around alot and stayed off your feet.
If the pain is to the side or the rear of the hip (not in front at the inguinal area) then ice pack it for 15 minutes every 60 or 85 minutes during the late day until you go to bed. Ly on your good side with a good feather pillow between your knees, (they're cooler).
Report back when you can tell us more.

I have tried everything the first few reples suggested and none of the ideas have really help. However, the response from wilper(sp?) is a new idea to me and I will look into trying to ice it and go back to my chiropractor. Thank you very much. Why has a Dr. never mentioned that solution to me?

I have had the same problem for YEARS!!!!!!!!!
I'm on one side for half hour then flip to the other, and then back again. This goes on all the time, and it's a rarity when it's not their. I also have a problem with my back locking up if I lay on my stomach more them 5 minutes. Why the heck should my back lock up(and I mean PAINFULLY)????? This has been going on since I was a teen, and now I'm 38.
I also hurt real bad in the hips if someone smacks my butt. Don't take that the wrong way.... I mean like when your husband or someone smacks you when your walking away and they are teasing you. I actually let out a howl from the pain it causes in my HIPS.
I have also tried pillows between the legs, and all kinds of mattresses. I actually bought a 3000 dollar mattress set last year, and found out it was no different then the 100 dollar one when it came to my hip problem.
Any ideas would be appreciated

Hi,
All you there who are suffering from hip pain. Is this a chronic problem for you all? If so, have you thought of having acupuncture for this problem? If you have seen your doc and had x-rays and things that are NAD why not give it a go? It is extremely good for painful conditions such as this and could give you more long-term relief from the sleepless nights and reduce your stress levels well.
Hope this helps?
Take care and good luck
Sarah
