Two years ago my sister was in a car accident. It caused her to have tissue damage so she was prescribed cortizone shots. She was given a very large amount in 3 injections, a few weeks apart. Within a month she was diagnosed was addisons, due to the fact her adrenal gland was detecting to much cortizone. She blew up like a blow fish, along with alot of mental stress. Its been a while now and her numbers are finally going back to normal, but she is on the verge of a break down. Along with this, the place on her lower spine where the injecting were given is now free of fat, muscle and almost skin, it will most likely need a skin gragh within 2 yrs. I guess its rare but cortizone can do this. If anyone has heard of this it would be nice to give my sister some reasurance she is not the only one.

After I was on Prednisone for a very severe allergic reaction and then tapered off very slowly--couldn't do it any other way, I came down with what is called Steroid Induced Cushings.
My adrenal gland was fine. But it had shut down while I was on prednisone. Now my serum cortisol is "normal" but on the low side. So I acquired Cushings just from taking steroids.
