My daughter is 15 yrs old and has been suffering from what has been refered to as night terrors.... during these episodes she claws at her own face. We have been to sleep clinics, doctors and emergency rooms. The school has threatened to involve childrens aid as they question child abuse. After each episode I am required to take her to the hospital to see if the doctors entertain the idea of child abuse. Lat night she said she felt like there was a steam roller on her body from the ribs down and couldn't move for about 10 minutes. After being able to move again she was shaking and cold to the touch. I am so worried about her. I am about at my wits end. Is there anyone who can make a suggestion on what else to do? We are tired and scared for our daughter.

I could make a really crude NIghtmare on elmstreet joke but I wont.

I really hope she gets better, I remember when I was little I had some of the most terrifying dreams I could have imagined. If I was still having them I dont think I would be sleeping anymore. Good luck.

sorry to hear that about your daughter. try consulting a psychologist. If all else fails, try talking to a spiritual counsellor, or i shouldn't say this cuz i'm christian, but anyways, a psychic, but that's ONLY if all else fails. Or just a thought, you could put her in a monitered room in a sleeping clinic or something to see what happens when she is sleeping. but only 2 things i can think this can be related to; something related to the mind and brain, or something similar to the movie the sixth sense. no offence, i love that movie it's a kind in a certain way.

You mentioned that you've taken your daughter to a sleep clinic. How long did she stay there? Maybe she should stay a few nights just so the doctors can get a better idea on what's going on with her.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Take care.

My daughter spent 3 nights in a sleep clinic with 100 monitors attached to her entire body. Video and audio were also recorded. They found that by her brain waves.....she has a very active mind when she sleeps. But the leg paralysis is a new symptom. Thank god she is trying to maintain a sense of humour about all of this....she said to me yesterday that maybe I'm the one with night terrors and am coming into her room and scratching her.....LOL

Thank you so much for your suggestions.
