Lately, whenever my bf coughs, he has been coughing up blood! Also, when he blows his nose, there is blood present also. I know this is a situation where he should see a doctor, but I just thought that I would write today while at work and see if anyone had any ideas as to what this may be. (I'm MAKING him go to the doctor when he gets home from work!!!)

Good job for making him go to the doctor. The blood could be from many things, but the only one I can think of is an ulcer. (My grandfather had the same problem and is hospitalized for it now.) Make sure that he recieves the care that he needs. :)

hi hopefully your man is sorted out now my neighbour was having the same symptoms and it was real bad ulcers in his throat causing it http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bang.gif

It sounds like it could be an ulcer but I wouldnt take a guess, make him go to the doctor right now, dont delay! Hope all is well,

I sure hope he went to a Dr by now? If he's really coughing, then it can't be an ulcer. It is a lung problem like pneumonia or even TB. It could just be really bad allergies too. Was the blood bright red? That could just mean an irritation in there causing him to bleed. Hope it all came out ok and he is much better!!

I know when the wheather is real dry up here we tend to get a little blood from the nose but I sure wouldn't take any chances .. your doing the right thing

Gerksgirl, Does your BF have sinus trouble?? Is there alot of blood or small amounts? I would still see the DR. regardless. I sometimes bleed from the nose & cough up small amounts as well but nothing alarming. It's my sinuses. Good luck :)

Thanks everyone. He never did go to the doctor, but it went away like a day later. He does have really bad sinuses and problems with his ears plugging up all the time, so I was thinking that it was his sinuses too. I'm still trying to get him to go and see a specialist, but you know how guys are about going to the doctor..ha ha. But for the most part, the blood all went away and Im still working on getting him to go and see a doctor. I will keep you updated!
