I am going to have surgery soon to remove some cysts from my breast. I have fibrocystic breasts is what my doctor called it. I have several caffeine cysts
from drinking too much pop. I have had several small cysts in my right breast that leak a yellowish discharge if I squeeze the breast it comes out. Last month one of them got infected and started leaking blood instead. my doctor checked my breasts but said I didnt have a dominant mass - which would be an indicator of a cancerous tumor he said. And none of my lymph nodes were swollen. Has anyone ever experienced this problem before, and can it turn into cancer. I am really scared because I cant afford to go see a specialist or another doctor to find out for sure and I know I need to. I could barely afford the money to go see my doctor this time. I am very scared! Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Having fibrocystic breast disease gives you a higher chance of developing cancer over those who DON'T have the cysts. But it's really nothing to sit and worry about, as long as you make sure you check yourself regularly and have mammograms. (you didn't say how old you were.) Have you recently had a baby??

Your doctor is required to check whether you have an abcess due to an infection or something else. The connection between polycystic breasts and cancer is that because polycystic breasts feel/look lumpy, there's an increased chance of missing a malignant lump. Cowden syndrome is another condition where lumpy breasts are a symptom.
