Hello
This is the first time I am posting here on this particular topic. I read the others and it got me thinking. Years ago I seen an endo and she did some tests and said I didnt have cushings disease ,but I had an enzyme defect of the adrenal glands (in the 17 keto steroids). I never knew what that meant. Havent seen an endo in many years. I am now 49 and dealing with a second major depression with anxiety attacks. I am dealing with it since being put on effexor and remeron and at night xanax. I am also going through menopause. I am also hypo and take meds for that . I almost lost my teaching job earling in 2002 because of panic and having to leave and was out a long time.Tried explaining it to the principal and he could have cared less. I stil have my job ,but a little less stressful . I am in special education and was with the severe and profound kids but now in resource. I take a aspirin each day because I had a blood clot a couple of years ago.Told never to take hormone replacement yet my regular doctor says i need estrogen. Anyway I am wondering if I need to see an endo again and see what all might be going on. I tested negative for arthritis conditions, but always have a high c reactive proteiin. Also have polycystic ovaries too. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thankyou susanp

Definitely see an endo and have new blood tests. These conditions can be very serious.

YES, see an endo..do not stop looking..I know what you mean when you say the prinicpal didn't care....and mine is a SHE....Teaching is stressful enough by itself...without all this other ... thinking we are going nuts! You may have to repeat and repeat how you feel....but just do it....sometimes the doctors are like our 'special education students' ...they don't hear/understand everything the first time...LOL..

Susan:

You have what is called LOCAH and you should be on Cortef. Do a Google search on it.

Maybe it's not wise to even let employers know there are problems. Male or female, they may just want their job to be as easy as possible and fear you'll be trouble for them somewhere down the road. If they can get a replacement, I'd fear they just might do it. You were lucky, and a good judge of people, so far.

It's a tough, crazy world.

Good luck. Keep us posted. This board is so helpful.

I havent checked back here in a while on this topic. I have had so much going on. Still havent seen a endo yet,but getting ready to before I go back to work . My husband has diabetes and almost died awhile back. He is doing good now. I am going to do the search on cortef, and thank everyone for suggestions, and yes, I will keep you updated on what I find out. You all mean a lot to me.
