Anybody know any way of preventing canker sores. I get them one after another. Not sure if they can be prevented or not. I used to get them in high school. 10 years ago. It stopped for a long time. Now all of a sudden.....their back! Very painful! Any clues?

Have you changed anything in your oral care? New ttothpaste, mouthwash etc? There is an ingrediant in most toothpaste Sodium Laurel Sulfate? I thin that has been strongly liked to canker sores. There are also documented links to several foods. I suggest you do a search for "canker sore prevention" or something along those lines to try and rule out a dietary link. There are several web sites that list the most likely foods to cause canker sores.

I get cold sores, I know, not the same thing, but they are also linked to diet. I ALWAYS get a cold sore if I eat too many walnuts.

I hopewhat ever is causing them turns out to be something simple for you to "leave out" of your diet or a new toothpaste like it was for me.

I find that I cannot use gel toothpastes, even thought I do once in awhile, or I get them too. There are a lot of good canker sore remedys on the market. I use Zilactin and it seems if I use it at night the next morning mine are a lot better.
