Years ago I had gallbladder removed. Now there is a possibility I have gallstones. Can this be?? Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi saar1234:
I have heard of this possibility, that some stones were not detected or removed.

According to this article, virtually [but not all] gall stones are formed in the gallbladder.

From that website (under Procedure)-
"The tube (common bile duct) that drains the digestive fluid (bile) from the liver to the small intestine (duodenum) is examined for blockages or stones."
Sometimes stones get left in a duct, and can cause complications. This was in the written material I was given before my surgery, as a possible complication.
