Can someone explain some growing pains that they have gone through? I am ** years old (olser than 35 and younger than 45) and I feel aches and pains all the time! Is that all part of the aging process? For example, my joints will hurt, from time to time my thoat or ears will hurt, my back hurts, my feet and hand hurt upon waking, etc... what's that all about? I thought that I was too young for that!

Never too young! Our joints start to show wear and tear as early as in our late 20's and by the time you are in your 40's they can begin to be symptomatic from time to time. It isn't old age as you might think, after all arthritis is company of the young and old it doesn't discriminate at all. If you are predisposed to any form of arthritic conditions you may suffer some ache and pain earlier than some people. I was diagnosed with cervical arthritis in my late 20' do to a car accident in my teens. I'm in my early 50's now and have it also in my spine, feet and hands. It seems once the process starts it has a dominoe effect as years go by. If you wake up in the morning and your hand is kind of stiff and sore you could be looking at early signs of arthritis.

Wow, I notice it in my feet too! Upon waking, my feet hurt until I "walk it out", my neck seems to be stiff also. I guess it's all a part of God's plan for us getting older! Thanks for responding!

Also what we did with our bodies when we were younger also plays a big part of what happens when we get older. My husband used to weight lift, play football in college, and wrestle. Also childhood stuff like jump cars, pick up the corner of a car(strong guy seen him do it once)Now one knee surgery,a back that occ. gives him problems. So the abuse we put ourselves through when we were young and dumb(no offense just what I call it) does catch up on us.
I read in the paper that Jerry Lewis had gotten a procedure done I can't remember what is was because of the pain in his back after all those falls he had taken in the movies caught up with him. Some sort of permanent pain pump or something.

Irish,
I have heard that but, I always thought that it mainly pertained to athletes.

For me, the "downhill process" started at 34 (I am 36 now). My right knee aches on and off, and makes crunchy noises when going up and down the stairs-I was a runner in high school and college, injured it more than once. My low back hurts if I stand on my feet without walking for more than 20 minutes. I have a collapsed arch -right foot-too much physical abuse when younger I guess. I get tired more easily. The list goes on and on.

It's just not fair to get all of these aches and pains as we get older!

All kinds of abuse catches up with us. My husband was a weightlifter, wrestler, football player in high school. Now his back is hurting him. Had to have knee surgery in 2002. It all eventually catches up with you. What I put my body through when I was young, now is coming to make a house call and I wish I hadn't opened the door.

I lived here in 1980-1983 then moved back in 1989 and haven't left. Ex-husband(he could be a whole other web site to himself) was military and he got out the second time we came up here. I love the scenery and its the only place I've ever lived where I can go outside my front door and see a Bald Eagle flying over or have a Moose in my yard.
I hope you had a great time when you were here.

Thta's too funny about the comment about the "Ex" I could join you in that forum! Yes my hubby and I had a great time. The only thing that we had a hard time getting used to was the fact that there was only 4 hours of night time. It was really weird being 3:00am and it being light out! It was great though!

If you do have arthritis, now is the time to start watching what you eat. Citrus fruit and juice is very bad and can bring on more arthritis attacks than I care to endure. My Mother was severely stricken with arthritis and she lived with me so I read and studied every aspect concerning arthritis. I would go to the library or check on the internet for information on things that could help you immensely. There is no cure, but, lots of things you can do to help yourself because this is a very painful ordeal. Age is not a factor.
Lots of Luck,
SARAH

We have found that some sort of exercise, daily, a
person has to have. Some times getting up in the
morning is a chore and as soon as you get up, you
feel so much better. A person has to do it; even
if it is uncomfortable and usually you feel so much
better afterwards. I can say this as we are somewhat
older, but totally enjoying and do not feel our age,
much less look like it. Granted, there are days.......but as a whole, you got to keep on the
roll. Best to you

Lily and Nancy,
ME TOO!!! I'm 36 and I've been having total stiffness for about a year or two. When I wake in the morning, it's a slow, careful process. I have to "walk it out." When I drive to work (or anywhere) for longer than 20 minutes, when I get out of my vehicle, I have to "walk it out." When I sit at my table for longer than 30 minutes and get up, I have to "walk it out."
I've been wondering "Am I just getting old?" "Is this arthritis?" "Is there anything I should be doing to help get rid of this?" "Is this related to my being 50 pounds overweight?"
Any insights, anybody, into all my wondering?
Thanks.

Hi , I am a bit older than some of you are that to me does not matter as we are all in the same boat. I have tried perscription meds some work and some do as many other things in life. There are many wonderful things to use for all these symptons and so really really work. Go to that store where you buy most of your things and not the grocery store. Check out a health food store and see hwat they have and then go to the other store as they will have the same things only a lot less expensive..........hope you understand what I am saying. I use a combination of one thing that comes in a tablet and the other can be added. That goes buy something that has three letters in its name. Sorry if this sounds like a mystery......I am new on this site and have thoroughly read the posting thing and wish to stay. If it were not for what I am talking about I probably would have had hip replacement long ago.
Be kind to yourself mentally and physically. As for the citrus......ouch is right!!!! Good luck at the heath food store and then happy shopping. Ciao

Most ailments are not part of the natural aiging process as many assume....they are due to our lifestyles! i'm only 28 and i've been having all kinds of aches and pains and someone recommended supplements after mentioning that JAMA (journal of the american medical association) is now saying that all adults should take them....eeek!! i took a good look at what i was consuming along with my sleeping habits and so on and so forth and realized that maybe i wasn't feeling too great because my lifestyle wasn't that great..duh..lol. I started on dietary suplement called LifePak for Women!! i'll tell you what..i feel so healthy. I can't even explain how my back pain has gone..my hair doesn't fall out in the shower! All kinds of little things like that we usually chalk up to normalcy. anyway..maybe you just need to boost your vitamin intake. i know all of this has encouraged me to also eat a lot fresh brightly colored vegetables because those contain the best nutritional value and many anti-oxidants. Well good luck!!
