My mum started going grey when she was 30. Does this mean I will to?? Also, when I was about 16 I found a white hair growing from my head and thought nothing of it, but just recently I found another one. Am I going grey ALREADY???
I don't like the idea of turning grey when I'm 30, and especially not now - I'm only 19!
My Dad is 53 and has a full head of brown hair. Is it possible that I will take after him instead. Help. HELP!
Sorry about all the questions!

Nicole, My hair is kind of a combination of both my mother & father. My mother turned grey early, while my father has a full head of hair(not much grey) either. So, I have a full head of hair, very thick, but like my mother have salt & pepper colored hair which started greying early in my twenty's. So, maybe like me you'll get a little of each from each parent.

I'm in my early 40's now. I started to go grey when I was mid 20's. My son (around 12 at the time) so mentioned on a bus full of people. "Mom, you've got grey hair". Thank God for child abuse laws (just kidding). Besides now I get to go a little crazy now and then to cover what grey I do get I color it. Look in the store next time you are there. There are a zillion different shades to chose from. It's kind of fun being blonde one season then a redhead the next. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have to agree with Irish Creme. If the grey comes, just color it. If you are healthy, I would think that is the most important thing. Our attitudes, happiness, personalities, loving life, family and God also register a top priority. My Dad at 88 had lots of grey hair and my Mom at 83 hardly had any. I am now 60 and still no grey hair and do not color the hair. I bet you will do just fine either way.

Hi Nicole!
My Mom started going grey when she was in her early 20's. Unfortunately, we cant change our genetics, but thank god for hair color!! I started seeing white and grey hairs when I was 19 and have colored since, (im almost 30 now). Yes its a bit depressing, but unless you want to walk around with grey hair, you will have to color it. Talk to your hair dresser about what they can do for you or if they can give you tips on coloring your own at home. Depending on your hair color, they might suggest hi-lights that are a lighter shade of blonde because blonde shades dont show grey as fast. There are many different types of hair color out there that wont fry your hair. Have fun with it!! Since i accepted the fact that I had grey hair and couldnt do a thing about it, I decided to have a great time being blonde, a red head, and my natural brunette. Its actually fun to re-invent yoruself once in a while.
Dont let it get you down dear. Work with it and have fun!!!
Sincerely,
Saph
