I need to share something you all may benefit from and that's facial exercises. I always heard that they would stretch skin out, but at 48 I figured why not try it. I purchased two books with these exercises and found some online sites and after doing them for two weeks I've seen SUCH a difference! Others have too! Try it and see for yourselves! Cheaper than surgery.

"Facebuilding - The Daily 5-Minute Program for a Beautiful, Wrinkle-free Face" by Reinhold Benz and "Smoothing Wrinkles Away" and another by author Carol Maggio. Look online also as there are free online exercises.
I began doing them with apprehension as I always heard it may stretch skin causing more wrinkles, but, at 48, what have I to lose? I read an excerpt by Dr. Werner L. Mang from the Clinic for Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery write: As a bodybuilder trains his muscular body, a facebulder trains his facial muscle. And the face remains youg, supple, fresh and the skin retains its elasticity."
Well, like I said, it works for me and I notice the difference as well as others have commented also. I've gotten rid of (practically) my double chin, my jowls have firmed up and cheek bones are now noticeable. I'm now starting with the upper eyelids which are sagging. Hope it works for that area, too. I'm definitely going to keep this up from now on as I'm scared of going under the knife (and can't afford it anyway!). try it, I'm sure you'll notice a difference too. Don't forget to wash your face and leave water on it, then dab some moisturizer (I put baby oil) on top of wet skin. five or ten minutes will do. I do them while watching tv at night. good luck!

Hi:
I have always been sceptical of those facial exercise books because the muscles in the face are different than the muscles in the rest of the body. By the way, what wrinkles do you have in your 40s? I am in my 60s and only have wrinkles around my eyes. But I would like to do something about the sagging jawline.
I will look the books over at Barnes and Noble. Thanks for your post.

Hi Sheila! In response to your response, I've read many times that the muscles in the body are made out of the same fibers, cells, etc., therefore they are all the same. The skin may be different texture, though, in different areas of the body. At 48+ my biggest concern were not wrinkles, but sagging skin (jowls, neck, eyelids, cheeks) and the exercises, like with the other muscles in my body, have firmed up. I'm taking free weight training as a preventative measure for warding off osteoporosis. have a great week end!

I bought a tape called "facial magic" years ago off an infomercial or something, which teaches you facial exercises like that. I tried it for awhile, but I tended to lose interest for some reason. Maybe I'll break it out & give it a try again and stick to it this time. My main problem area is my neck.
