My 80-year-old father has shingles on his head, face. Mostly the redness on the skin has left, but it's in his eye & driving him crazy. Doctors have given him eyedrops (Valtrex?) & pain meds, which give him hallucinations. Has anyone had experience with treatment after Valtrex and eye medication? Or pain control other than opiates? Alternative treatments? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! Thanks for your response. Haven't found anything else on the Web re: shingle treatment beyond what he's already got, so maybe there isn't anything.

How funny we're both Pegs from KC! Yes, that's my real name. In the earlier days of the muppets, I had children call me Miss Piggy. I'm in the south part of town, where are you? Haven't been on this board before, is there a way we can do email off the board?

Thanks again for your reply.

hi peg...i'm right behind oak park mall. I have a small inner city school off of main and 36th. I'm Miss Peggy to my students. I have 12. I'm not sure about email..I'll have to check the rules again. These are great boards for good information.
