Hello everyone,

Whats your opinions on children lifting weights or exercising? Ive heard it can stunt theyre growth.

Heres my dillema.... I have my 11 year old son do pushups and calf raises every other day. I dont want him lifting at this young age. Does anyone feel that this can be harmful, or is he wasteing his time. Is he too young to get benefits from this? Im curious as to what some of you think. Thanks in advance for any replys.

He does these excercises to increase his ability, hes a football player.

Lifting weights before 13 or 14 has been thought to endanger young devolping bones. Versitile play, sports, running climbing, stretching, karate, etc are preferrable because they do not concentrate on particular muscles or areas of the body. However, they will develope muscles and coordination and the discipline that will assist him when his body is ready to develope muscules. :bouncing:
