I don't know where to post this but I want to talk about it with someone. I think my family would think I was making it up. In April my grandfather died of cancer, we were with him in the final days and even there the morning he died. Then, my grandmother suddenly passed away almost a month to the date. I'd never lost anyone before so it was a little overwhelming.
I've been having dreams of my grandfather. Odd, really vivid dreams. The first one was right after and all it was was I just saw his face and he said "I'm ok". Then right after my high-school graduation I was walking with him at church- which was weird because it's where his family is burried and where my family personally wanted him burried too but my grandmother wanted another cemetery. I asked him what he thought of graduation and he said "It was a little long, but good" which I thought was funny because it was a really long ordeal. Then, just last night I dreamed I got a call from him on my cell phone. I answered it and I recognized his voice immediently because he went "Hi Lindsey!". I don't remember much although he said sometimes he'll just sit in the den, our family room. I forget why though.
Has anyone ever had an experience like this? I know it sounds cheesy and all but that's what I've dreamed. I wake up feeling so happy too like my Pop-pop still is here. And they're not just childhood memories, he's always telling me something. Not like deep life secrets but just to let me know he liked the graduation and such. It just makes me feel really happy but really sad to.

What you are experiencing is not at all uncommon. Many times long lost or dead relatives come to us in a dream or some other way. Some people who have never had this type thing happen don't believe it but for those who have had these and other kinds of experiences we full well know that you are not nuts or out of your mind. Enjoy your "visits" with your grandpa and listen to what he has to say. Be glad that he has found a way to let you know that he is alright even though he is gone from this earth.

That's reassuring, thanks. When he died he was pretty much bald from the chemo. Yet at one point a couple years ago after a sucessful round he wouldn't cut his hair. We would always be like "Why doesn't pop-pop cut his hair?" and my dad would be like "he's happy to have it back" and whenever I see him he has that long hair :-)

i am ALWAYSdreaming of my gran and grandfather. sometimes they are quite frightening dreams. like im dreaming im in their house and i know they are dead and i see there ghosts. my grandfather died last year after having a major operation to remove his stomach after cancer. my sister dreamt of him 2 days later and he told her that it wasnt the cancer that killed him, it was his heart. makes you think....

Hi Broadwaygirl....I've only ever had a one off when something like this happened. I never knew any of my grandparents and so and elderly lady who lived across from my parent's business became a sort of surrogate grandmother. She passed away about 15 yrs ago and it really hurt as she didn't really have an illness, but didn't see the point of living anymore. She wanted to die as all her friends were dead and any real family she had left only wanted her money. After she died, but before the funeral i had the most lovely dream of her coming to me and sending a type of message that she was ok. I still miss her and wish she was around as i'd love to know how she would have dealt with certain issues i've had to deal with in my adult life.

Maybe the people we love are able to send us a form of message through dreams as peace of mind for us that they are ok and haven't forgotten us. Maybe they are our guardian angels too. Who knows, but it's a nice thought anyway :)

I've experienced this, too. When my father died three years ago, I dreamed about him alot. One day, last year I think it was, I smelled men's cologne, and there hasn't been any in the house since Daddy died. It was like what he used, Old Spice.

My mother died in April this year, and one day recently I thought I heard her call me. It was so clear!

Please take comfort in this, it shows our loved ones are always with us.

Yes, many people have thoses experiences.

What is weird is when you hear, see, or smell those that have died while you are awake. Some times with other family members present having the same with you.

Dreams of deceased loved ones are entirely normal.

My Dad died 22 years ago, I was 16 at the time - he was only 51. From time to time I do dream about him -usually its based on him being alive, seeing me with my wife and daughter etc. Even though he would be in his 70s now, he always looks 51.

I'm not normally into C&W music, but there is a song -Holes in the Floor of Heaven [either the song title or reoccurring in the chorus] that brings tears to my eyes. I strongly believe in an afterlife, in a loving and compassionate God. Keep in mind that as you are dreaming of them, they are in a better place thinking of you, rooting for you.

my grandma died in april 98 and my granfather died april the following year almost to the day also,,i am sure it was from heartache, they were married over 50 yrs
my dad just passed away from cancer unexpectedly nov 30th 3 days after he found out he had cancer , its so unfair but i dream of him all the time , in those three days he went from being 55 yrs old to looking like he was in his 80's i have never seen anything like that before but in my dreams he looks the way he was before he got sick, at first he never spoke in them, he was just there, then one day when i went to see his headstone i told him he could talk to me ,, and now in my dreams he does talk, the last time i dreamt about him he was really really upset,
but i am glad that i dream about him
