The best you get from the doctors is a shrug and take her home comment.

They are no help.

I need any qualified opinions or experience

Hi Zardoz:
You're obviously concerned, and that's commendable. It's difficult to pinpoint the one problem that if addressed, could have a positive impact on the others. If her arthritis is the common element that is leading to alcohol abuse (to relieve pain) and inactivity, then dealing with the arthritis pain might be a place to start. Her blood pressure and heart rate can be controlled with medication.
There is also the possibility that she simply doesn't want help. Because her active participation is necessary, you might also try encouraging her to seek psychological counselling. Sorry I can't be more help.
Best of luck.

Hi

Many of the symptoms you mentioned can be caused by chronic alcoholism. Most alcoholic beverages are also loaded with calories. Long-term alcoholism can also cause diabetes and it is a well-known fact that people who consume large amounts of alcohol can develop bowel disorders as a result. How do I know?. I used to be an alcoholic and went through the whole withdrawl thing, start-and-stop, delerium tremens, etc. No picnic for sure but I thank God almighty that I finally quit over a year ago and hav'nt touched a drop since. There is a new medication on the market that has few if any side effects and really helps with the cravings but I don't remember the name right now (tell this person to ask their doctor). Good luck and I hope you get help for them.

Many sites on the internet imply that people can live with high blood pressure for years without any ill effect
