View Full Version : Tonsil Stones

WOW! I never knew there were so many people who "got stuff stuck in their tonsils." A long time ago I was told it was food. I have never been able to pick the stones out, as my gag reflex is too strong and I will vomit. In fact, I nearly vomit just trying to "hack" them up.
I have other symptons that I see some of you have as well. I just had surgery to repair a deviated septum. My nose was so crooked inside that I could only breathe out of my left side. It is still constantly stuffy and drains into my throat a lot. I also get sore throats and my ears pop and hurt.
Recently, my ENT told me it was cells my tonsils shed that get stuck in crevices. He said it may even be a sign of a mild infection and precribed me an antibiotic mouthwash (the stuff they give you for gingivitis) to gargle with. It tastes awful, but after three days of using it the stone appears to have disappeared. At least I can no longer feel them there. I can still taste/smell them though. And they come back again. He told me that getting my tonsils removed was out of the question. I am considering finding a new ENT though....
I am sorry to bore anyone with the long post, but I was just thrilled to find this board and to know I am not completely weird! Thanks!
