Hi, I decied to join this message board to ask some opinions. lately I've been noticing a difference in my personality, like racing thoughts, very quickly agitated, I sometimes get into a good mood or something but I find myslef quickly fading out of it, and getting depressed some what suicidal thoughts, and starting to use safety pins to make scratches in my skin. Last time I did this,I noticed that i wasn't getting any painful sensations as i usually do, which scared me a bit. I started to look in on things of depression and bi-polar info. and I was curious of what you guys thought, if maybe I need some meds. or anything, I really dont have much of a homelife, so im turning to you people for help.
thanks for reading,
cheryl

hey you,
before you hop on the pill wagon you might want to look at your life and see what is going on there. most of the time when peopl get like this its because they are enduring a lot of pain or pressure. if you need to talk to someone you can always talk to us/me. id know what is like to be severly depressed but i know why im depressed. if you do feel disturved it might be a chemical imbalance. so first try to relax and get in touch with yourself. if that doesnt work, then i would recomend seeking some profesional help. let me know and dont do anything rash that later you wont be able to regret... so if you need anything at all we are always here. best of wishes!

First, does anyone else in your family have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc? If so it is very possible that you do too, since these tend to run in families. The safety pin scratching is kind of a red flag.

I would definitely consider finding a therapist to talk with and start from there. You don't have to see a psychiatrist first thing...there are plenty of other therapy options you can try first and it shouldn't take as long to get an appointment. If they feel you may need medication then they can refer you elsewhere.
Good luck and post back!
