Hello, hopefully someone can help me out here. It can be a real problem having symptoms but not being able to describe them to other people - including your doctor. Here are mine as of the last 5 days...
My head/mind feels:
dizzy, fuzzy, foggy, heavy, thick, syrupy, soupy, disconnected, stuporish, detached, spacey, hungover, buggy, ditzy, zoned-out, out-of-it, retarded, goofy, squirrely, light-headed, anesthetised, pressure, numb, pickled, can't think clearly, scrambled, confused, etc.
These are just a few of the words that come to mind (pun intended) when I attempt to describe how I have been feeling. I've experienced similar symptoms in the past but they did not seem to be as severe as they have been over the past 5 days. It almost feels a little bit like when I had positional vertigo (from an inner ear infection) many years ago except my coordination is'nt affected and I don't have an ear infection or any pain (that I'm aware of).
I DO have allergic rhinitus, chronic sinusitus, generalized anxiety disorder, depression, obscessive-compulsive disorder and a few other health-related problems in my life but I don't ever remember feeling quite this "strange" in my head.
When I try to talk, it can take a few extra seconds to process each word and sometimes the words don't always come out in the right order or as they should. Sometimes I forget things too. Now, I know that everyone forgets things at times or gets their words mixed up and my symptoms are fairly mild but still, they are unusual for me because I don't remember ever feeling this way - at least to this extent. I also get either very frightened or very irritable when I try to say something and the words don't come out right or they come out too slowly.
I guess my question is: do these symptoms seem consistant with any of the disorders I mentioned above (ie; anxiety, depression, sinusitus, etc)? and do these same symptoms sound at all familar to anyone else here?.
Any help is appreciated. This has really begun to scare me and I don't know what is causing it. I've gotten rid of everything that could possably cause my allergies to falre up, I keep myself clean, excersize, eat right, etc. I don't drink, smoke (but I do chew). I am 40 years old and male.
Thank you!!

Since this is a concern for you and something new you should see your doc and get it checked out just to ease your mind. The foggy feeling and head pressure etc are all classical symptoms of sinus problems so it is quite possible this is what it is. You mention chronic sinusitis so you really should get this under control by making sure you take a good antioxidant supplement along with your daily mulitvitamin to help eliminate all or most of you sinus problems.

Definitely rule out the sinus infection first...I have had a few that have made me wish I was dead, they can be quite debilitating. If that is not the case, you also might consider asking for a complete head-to-toe neurological workup. The slow word processing is a concern.
Also if you are on meds currently for your OC, etc. have those evaluated as well. Just because they work for a while doesn't mean they will work indefinitely. If you have added a new med recently (or even taken some new over-the-counter drugs) there may be a drug incompatibility.
