I just took my neighbor to the DR for a very sore ankle. She thinks it is arthritis. However he never even really looked at it. She didn't even take her sock off. He just prescribed LIBRIUM for her. That is an anxiety drug. Is this happening to most seniors in this world. I would like to know. My neighbor is 73 and is really functioning well for her age. I thought he would send her for x-rays or prescribe an arthritis med. What is this world coming to. I am sure in Canada it is all a money grab.

Twokatss- Good grief!
Before your friend takes ONE librium, please see another doctor! This sounds absolutely crazy.
Even if the doc thought your friend needed a tranquillizer, librium is such an old fashioned drug. There are many better ones now with less side effects.

The ankle probably should have been xrayed but barring that, certainly examined more carefully.

I would definitely report this to the Canadian Medial Association.. There are just some Dr.s out there who are pill pushers and yes Canada has it's fair share of them. But for this Dr to give a script for Librium for a sore ankle, I would call him on it.
