This is pissing me off.

I am a 23 year old male 6'2 and 200 pounds about one year ago i started to get mass chest pains that last all day and night 24/7.

They never go away never!!! Also i have a lump in my stomach and a lump on my arm and on my leg.

All the doctor did was feel them and say that the lumps in my body are no concern he did no TEST ON EM WHAT SO EVER.

So i tell him i have chest pains all day long and night only gave me a ekg and that was it.

Then he told me to try some tums.

At this point i was pissed i told him i took every type of acid reflux pill. And still it does not help.

I am worried that i may have cancer? This stupid doctor won't help me he says since its my age i have nothing to worry about.

This is the 3 time i have been to the doc in 1 week.

It is not normal for a 23 year old guy to have these pains.

Anyone else have any advice?

Get a new doctor. It probably is some sort of digestive thing, GERD, etc. But get some conclusive tests done. Or get some medication (besides Tums).

Good luck!

I agree with the above post. GET A NEW DOCTOR and get one now before the pain gets worse. Good luck. Keep us posted!!

I agree with the above posts I would go get a second opinion for the chest pains. Are the lumps hard or are they soft and mobile.

Just curious why you ask that question cattys? What would both cases indicate?

Have you tried changing your diet? My dh suffers from horrible heartburn. He cannot eat ANY gravies, sauces(esp tomato based) includes bbq sauce & spaghetti sauce. NO spices/herbs AT ALL, including pepper. Even salt is at a minimum. His worst herbs are basil or cilantro.
His last evil is grilled stuff on a grill, charcoal really kills him. He will eat grilled now & then but has to watch it.

I saw your post and wondered if any of this rings a bell??? When my dh is bad he has to go to an ER and drink a lidocane cocktail. Now he watches his diet good now and has had less trouble.

THERE IS NOTHING WORST THAN HAVING A DR. THAT YOU R NOT CONFIDENT IN. I SUGGEST FINDING ANOTHER DR AND NOT MENTIONING HOW LOUSY YOUR PREVIOS DR WAS TO YOUR NEW DR. ALSO THE CHEST PAIN COULD BE STRESS RELATED. STRESS HAS A STRANGE WAY OF AFFECTING YOUR BODY

What sort of chest pain is it? Is it in a localized place, or does it move around? Are your lumps sore, or have no feeling? I agree with everyone else, get yourself another Dr.

The chest pains are in the center and hurts 24/7 feels like i am getting stabbed.

The lump in my stomach hurts a little when i touch it the lump in my arm don't hurt and the lump on my leg don't hurt.

I am 20 and can't stand doctors that automatically assume that younger people are supposed to be healthy. That is why I recently switched PCPs. I have been having constant pain in my left leg all the way up to my groin, sometimes it is unbearable. He was doing tests but not the tests that I wanted and after a while, he just blew it off as anxiety. So I understand your frustration. And it just makes it even tougher with college and life itself. I am finally getting a CT scan of my leg/pelvis after 6 months of pain.

In your case, as bad as the pain may be, I don't feel it is life threatening. It sounds like you are either allergic to some food or you have a hiatal (spelling?) hernia. If the pain starts to become unbearable don't hesitate to go to the ER and get a chest Xray. But if your blood pressure is normal, it shouldn't be too serious.

If you can point to where your chest pain is, then you are not having a heart attack, so don't worry about that. There are so many things it could be. Costochondritis, hiatal hernia, peptic ulcer, acid reflux. Most likely it's something gastro or muscular I wouldn't worry too much, that will only make it worse, but I would find another Dr, or go to the emergency room. They HAVE to run the tests.

Keep us informed!

hello,
My mom went to 1 doctor and he ran all these different tests on her and made her have surgery! When she went to another doctor she could tell right away it was a bad disease. So anyway get another doctor and have it checked from a different perspective.

Like others have said, try a new doctor. Doctors work for you and when you are not satisifed, you seek a different one. If you took your car to a mechanic and he kept saying it was ok yet it didn't run, you'd find a new mechanic wouldn't you? ;)

I would definitely get a new doctor. To write you a clean bill of health simply because you're wrong is ludicrous. My brother died of an enlarged heart when he was 22! Not saying that stress you out - just showing that this doctor doesn't seem to be worth the paper his degree is written on.

When you're older (I'm 41) They blame everything on anxiety and depression. I went at least a couple of years taking many different meds for many different things. Then, one day, I had severe pain and numbness in my right shoulder and down my arm. I went to the ER. The doctor there did a battery of tests and found out what was wrong with me. I have hypothyroidism.
Your chest pain sounds like it hurts a lot and is obviously interfering with your life. Go to the ER. They can't and won't blow you off like your doctor. They'll do what it takes to find out what the problem is.
I went to the ER. It saved me when my doctor wouldn't.

the cause of chest pain does vary a great deal according to your age, and coronary disease is highly unlikely if you get atypical symptoms in a male under 30 or female under 40. test will be misleading when done in low-risk patients.

why want to be diagnosed with something serious. all these people posting about aneurysms etc if you hear the sound of hooves its a horse not a zebra!

I hear that! I am 51 and for the last fifteen to twenty years have been diagnosed with the typical depressed housewife litany that they like to throw at women. I had basically given up, until last March. I had chest pain and shortness of breath. Did a battery of tests and the doctor actually said to me "I didn't think we would find anything with you, but...." Jerks. But guess what?! I had two stents put in my arteries and also have some rare aneurysms on my coronary arteries and now after my cardiolite treadmill test they are going to do another angiogram this wednesday because they found ANOTHER abnormality. Gee! You mean it's NOT all in my head? Wow. ;)
Moral of my story is, YOU know your body best.....do NOT let the doctors convince you that you are just another crazy hypocondriacal housewife!

Do you do a lot of bench presses? Probably a weird question, but I noticed when I was doing a lot of heavy lifting my chest would hurt as well. Like someone else mentioned this could be the signs of GERD since I have had that as well even if I haven't lifted all week. I once created a topic similar to yours a while back when I was dissatisfied with doctors who only take a second to feel your body and dismiss you without running any tests.

Hi there.

You're right. A lot of Doctors don't care when you're young & say because we're young its nothing serious or stress & anxiety related. However Doctors obviously need to perform some tests in your situation.

The Lump you've mentioned that is hard should be examined throughly by another doctor. Also ask the doctor to perform a biopsy as you're very worred. I sincerly doubt its cancer or anything like this hun but I wouldn't be suprised if the lump in your stomach & the chest pains are related.

Your next step is to get a referral to a Gastroentologist doctor. This doctor specalizes in stomach problems, including hernias, bowels, GERD,etc. Also demand a scan of your stomach. If anything is going on here it will pick it up.

If this is heartburn related you will usually experience burning sensation in the centre of your chest, with or without chest pain, burning acid feeling may also make its way up your neck & you will usually get a nasty, bitter taste in your mouth. If this even happens then take anti-acids. For chest pains that isn't heartburn related all you can really do is take painkillers to help with the pain.

You definitely need to see a different doctor. The doctor you've been seeing doesn't sound any good at all & I wouldn't see this one again unless you have no choice. If there is other doctors at your surgery then make a appointment to see these. You don't have to see the doctor your registered under. Keep me posted & make sure you get the referral. You will know what your dealing with then. :)
