My friend found a lump that can be felt on the skin in the corner of his eye. His eye Dr. sent him to an opthamologist who ordered a ct scan as the Dr. said there's something growing there and pressing on the eye. About three days after the scan the Dr.'s office called and said he needs to get an mri next week but gave no explanation.
Do you have any ideas on why this was done? Why didn't the Dr. ask him to come over to the office to explain things? His Dr.'s office is closed today so he can't call....help please. If it was something really serious wouldn't the opthamologist have referred him to a regular Dr.?

Hi Karen-
Something REALLY serious would usually warrant a face-to-face meeting I would think, or at least a personal phonecall from the physician directly, so don't panic yet.
All doctors have an emergency contact #, and can be reached, even if the office is closed. If the anxiety is overwhelming, I would leave a message with the doctor's answering service to have him call your friend back today.
