This is VERY EMBARRISING but does anyone ever burp sometimes and it tastes/smells like rotten eggs? This episode will last for maybe 3 or 4 days and will dissapear. I haven't even eaten eggs..I don't eat them because I hate them. It's very embarrising and the odor is outrageous. What is this from?? I also cant find any information on the internet. Thanks!

I have never had that problem but I had a friend that had something that was similar. He found out it was gastro-intestinal and was pre-form of acid reflux. The Dr. put him on Prevacid to reduced the acid churning in his stomach and that got rid of the problem. If you feel this might be your problem you might want to try an over the counter like Pepcid.
Good Luck

I get something simular to that. It's more like an acid taste though. I think mine is caused from my hiatal hernia.

Try posting on the digestive forum. I think this was discussed there before.

The"rotten egg" odor comes from sulfur. Some of these volatile sulfur compounds are what give breath its bad smell.
The overwhelming majority of breath odors arise from the back of the mouth. (Only an extremely small percentage of bad breath problems are really due to stomach and digestive problems....)
In the mouth, bacteria feed on mucus and food particles that make those "stinky"sulfur compounds.
Be very vigilent about brushing and flossing and brush your tongue (as far back as you can before the gag reflex takes over!)
Since you seem to only notice this when you burp, maybe this is a stomach issue in your case. The odor comes from sulfur made by bacteria in the large intestine. Has anyone close to you commented on your breath in general?
You could try to reduce your intake of gassy foods, and also meat.

PS-
Try this test: Take a Q-Tip and take a "swab" of the back of your tongue. Then smell the Q-tip... Does it have the rotten egg odor? If not, your breath in general is okay!
