I have posted long ago about my other children, but now it is about our baby. He is four months old (today). He is totally breastfed. And he's a mess! Basically since birth his nose has been stuffed. When I first took him to the pediatrician reguarding it I was alarmed b/c it didn't seem to drain (not out the front or down the back from what he could see), he was *snoring* and I was concerned with sleep apnea, and he just seemed overall congested. They did a milk protein allergy test (blood not scratch) and it came back undetectable. We basically decided not to worry about it b/c he was growing fine and it didn't seem to bother him too much.
Well just before Thanksgiving, the nose got much worse, lots and lots of clear/white mucus, barking cough, sneezing, etc. I took him to the Dr. to see if anything could be done and make sure he didn't have an ear infection. Basically nothing to do for him he was too little. I finally ended up in the ER with him over that weekend. Diagnosis, bronchiolitis. We went back to the Dr., still nothing that could be done. Back to the ER, try Pediacare. Just made him loopy.
Well I finally decided to give in the fact that this is probably allergies, as everyone else has them and discussed this with the Dr. We are seeing our pediatric allergist and pulmonologist tomorrow for a consultation. We were on Claritin and it did seem to be helping. I took him off pending scratch tests with another dr. for the past 7 days, and he is getting worse again, nose, cough and then today sounding like a frog. We will not be seeing the dr. who wanted to do scratch testing (my choice) so we can re-start the meds, but my question is what would YOU request as far as blood tests for an infant that is having sinus problems. He really only has intermitten wheezing and neb treatments did not help him, as the cough is more in his throat. Never any fluid in his ears and overall is in great health. Weighs about 16#.
Any thoughts?

I have the same situation with my 6 month old. I suggest that you request a test for RSV, first. As for testing, my son came up non reactive to everything. However, the allergy tests are not always accurate. I would completely remove dairy from your diet, since you are breast feeding. I would also ask them to check your infants Ige, but mainly IgG. Often if their are food allergies that don't show up on the Ige, they will show up on IgG. My two year old has major food allergies from what we believe was due to a MMR or flu vaccine he received. be extremely cautious with vaccines. My 2 year old is being tested for Autism due to what we believe was a vaccine reaction. MMR is dangerous. I would avoid vaccines while your baby is even the slightest bit ill. Dr. Shaw at Great Plains lab is a research doctor that works with allergies ADD and Autism. I strongly suggest that you contact him for a free phone consultation. He is wonderful!!! We paid out of pocket for IgG food allergy test through him to find out that we were right about the allergies my son has. We also got some answers we desperately needed to find out, through his lab. Traditional doctors are checking IgE for allergy reactions when MOST children with food allergies only show positive with the IgG test. Ask him about vaccines as well. I wish you the best.

I also wanted to add that IgG difficiency causes sinus problems. My 7 year old has a IgG difficiency. My two other children have allergies but they are non-reactive to skin testing or IgE tests. I had the IgG test performed for food on my 33 month old, as I believe I told you in the last messege, and he showed reactive to everything we saw behavioral reactions too, as well as sinus reactions to. Michael has Autistic symptoms, however, he is high functioning. If we keep him away from food he does great with social interaction and eye contact. If he gets any foods like milk, soy, eggs, wheat, caisen, gluten, sugar, not to mention a few others, he will turn into a whole different child, major tantrums, fear, chronic runny nose, pale face, and dark circles under eyes. He has leaky-gut syndrome which causes an allergy like response in the immune system due to the leaking of undigested food particles getting into the blood stream. I believe after 2 years of research that this is all due to the immunizations, and other vaccines he received after birth. He was fine until 2 months old. I believe he has mercury poisoning from the vaccines which has caused the intestinal disorder and behavioral problems. As for your baby did you take him to the allergist? I am currently going through a similar battle with the health of my 6 month old, which again began after 2 months old. I am having no success with doctors they just want to medicate and put a bandaid on the problem, which obviously makes things worse, becacause all the medicine breaks down the immune system more. I peronally would like to have all my children tested for the mercury poisoning through hair analysis. I really believe that all my children have different levels of mercury toxicisity. Allergies don't run in my fanily, at least no diagnosed allergies. I think my babies were born with out the capability of detoxifying the mercury from the vaccines, which lead to damage in the and intestine, which causes all the other symptoms. I just hope for some answers, as well. I thought I would share my story since you seem to have had problems with your other children as well. The whole problem is finding doctors who will cooperate.

Belive it or not this may help, it did for both my children...
When my daughter was 3 and my son 6 they came down with horrible coughs.
At first their pediatician said it was a virus going around.
Then they got so bad they neede antibiotics and started on asthma treatments.
My much smaller daughter was worse than my son. She coughed so much she could not sleep.
TEN MONTHS later and many visits to their doctors and many drugs later I dicovered it was the chlorine that our water company started placing in our water system ten months earlier.
The dates of when they came down sick and the date of the chlorine being put into the water system matched!!!
As soon as I started them on bottled water from the store my son was 100%well and my daughter 95% well.
As soon as we moved to a home with well water and my daughter was no longer bathing in a bath with chlorine water she was 100% well.
They also had to keep away from chlorine water in other peoples homes and at school etc.
