My 2 1/2 year old son has been drinking milk since he was around 1 year old with no problems and he has no allergies. About 2 months ago he broke out in hives from what the doctor said was "an allergic reaction to a virus". It cleared up and everything was fine. For about the last 6 weeks, whenever he has a lot of milk, he gets splotches, only on his face, a runny nose, and dark circles under his eyes. The thing is, he can have maybe 1 small glass of milk and he's okay. Ice cream and cheese don't seem to affect him either, but if he has several glasses of milk, by the next day he is splotchy. Could he be allergic to milk? It just seems strange that he can have some and is okay with it . . .

I believe he could be allergic to milk and here's why. Your son is not alone. I am allergic to milk as well as my daughter and we have strange symptoms if we drink milk first thing in the morning we both have severe stomach pain to the point of doubling over in pain. We also get blotchy skin. If we avoid milk all day and only have one small glass at night 1 or 2x's a week we're ok. Also we can have ice cream and cheese and it does not bother either of us.

Try this it worked for us maybe it will work for your son. Take away the glass of milk for a couple of weeks the re-introduce it at night, after he has had a full day of food. do not give him whole milk, try skim milk it may help. If not I don't know if you lactose free milks where you live but you might try that. If all else fails, take away that glass of milk. He can still get the milk intake from cheese and ice cream. Good Luck
