I've read a bit about this medicine. Is this over the counter? Cut-throat -- do you take it daily? Aside from drowsiness, are there any other side effects?

HI,

Yes I take the Chlorotrimeton every day for the last 3 years. Two 12mg. pills a day. It is a very old antihistimine that has been around for 50 years.

It is over the counter now because it is very safe. It can make you sleepy, but I have gotten used to it.

I used to be very sick before this. Lightheaded, ears ringing, headaches, woozy etc.

Cut-Throat,

I have had this heavy fog headedness, burning eyes and ear pressure for the last 6 months. How long did you have it before the C-Trimeton? Did this condition hit you all of a sudden as it has hit me? Any info is always appreciated. I'm a young guy(29) and this is driving my work and social life crazy.

Hi,

I lived with my condition for about a year and a half. I was miserable. Mine came on rather slowly first a seasick feeling for a few months. Then lightheaded and after 6 months it led to headaches and ears ringing.

I went to doctors and had tests every week. I was woozy, lightheaded, seasick and it led to severe headaches and ears ringing. All the doctors seemed to do was test for Brain tumors and MS. One of the symptoms of allergies, is that if the medical community cannot find your problem!

I then took some C-Trimeton on a trip to Italy in March of 99. It was spring there and I knew I was allergic to pollen from trees.

Quite by accident within about 4 days i had felt better than I had in a year and half. I have been taking it ever since.

The one doctor that suggested that my problem could be allergies prescribed the newer meds that don't make you tired. They do not have the brain component that C- trimeton has. Well the stuff that does not you sleepy does not help me.

Over the last year, I have felt good enough that I quit taking the C-Trimeton just to see if my condition is gone. Tried this a couple of weeks ago and within a day and half I was feeling woozy again. Back to the meds. It does not work for everyone, but it worked for me! Good Luck !
