Hi Friends,

I was reading a few months ago about a theraputic technique called DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) that was getting very high success rates with people suffering from Borderline PD.

Has anyone had any experiences of it? I don't whether this is of any use to anyone but it might be another avenue worth exploring....

With lovingkindness

Hi Blue,

There are a few trials of DBT going on inside the NHS at the moment - I know of one in Scotland and one in Leeds. If they are successful then it may be possible to get DBT under the NHS......if I find out any interesting news of trials in the South of England I'll post it here....

With kind thoughts as always

Zafu

ZAFU! Hi, You have to tell me more about this DBT(sp?) Therapy...otherwise I'm doomed to ruin my own life by any means possible. How does it work? Can anyone offer it? I'm going to call my gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrr social worker/psychologist on Wednesday and talk it over with him. I can't stand him and I haven't talked to him in months because he doesn't understand me and he keeps telling me all this crap. Plus he calls me at home when I told him SPECIFICALLY to call me on my cell and never ever ever anywhere else. He doesn't listen...BUT, if you've brought to my attention that someone else might be better - that'd be good. Personally I don't notice a huge problem, but my boyfriend and parents think I'm off the handle.

More info on therapy please!
Thank you - Kaitie.

Hi Kaitie,

Your wish is my command ;)

There are many DBT-trained therapists in the US now.....

Try these links - some are aimed at the therapists rather than the patients but it's all good stuff....
http://www.brtc.psych.washington.edu/DBT.htm

http://www.mcleanhospital.org/psychupdate/psyupI-3.htm

http://www.priory.com/dbt.htm

If I find any more decent links I'll add them to the thread....

Hugs and lovingkindness...

Zafu

Hello Zafu

Ive not been on this board before but saw you here and thought maybe you could explain a bit about PD... ?
Is that what all of us with anxiety and PA's experience?
I get really scared sometimes that i have some weird personality split or something...i dont think i should be on this board really - it might make me start obsessing about it now...

hmmm
Ive not been too great lately...could do with a huggle..
