i am so so tired of this black and white thinking all the time http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/yawn.gif

where is the grey area?

and how do we get there?

surely its not possible to go through life with this all or nothing approach?

love or hate?

right or wrong?

for me its always one or the other never an 'in between'

any ideas anyone?

Hi Blue,

That's a toughie...

The truth gets approached when we stop thinking all together and just experience things........

Hope you are doing OK.

Big hugs

Hi Blue,

My basic diagnosis is Dysthymia (Low grade chronic depression), GAD and Social Phobia so I'm not sure that what helped me would help you.....I was on Paxil for about a year which has helped me but I'm still at the mercy of depressive episodes - it's probably only a matter of time before I get hit again.

I'm glad your partner is there for you - that's great.

Let us know how your med review goes?

I've just started some therapy on a weekly basis so hopefully that will help resolve some long term issues.

May you all be happy and well.

I know I have had problems with polarizing my thoughts. What I did, I started meditating and reading Buddhist philosphy. The meditating is so calming of the soul & physically calm your body & the philosophy of zen buddhism is to think in the momment. That we can't control anything but ourselves...it helps to center your thinking. It really has helped me get to a more grey area!! Alanis Morrissette songs are theraputuc also! (Thank U, So Pure, Still, and Precious Illusions to name a few) I think Alanis is/was a BPD! =)

Hi Blue,

If you want try some meditation again there's a great site at www.wildmind.org. (http://www.wildmind.org.) There are some audio files that can talk you thorugh a meditation if your PC has speakers....

I too have this problem with the black or white thinking, and it's driving me mad! If you come up with any solutions for it, please share!

i doubt i have found a miricle cure but i am starting to realise that there COULD be a grey area and it not all or nothing

i have been having councelling sessions with my CPN and when i start saying its all or nothing she then introduces the middle for me and even though i cant except that, i do listen. now when i start with my black and white thinking i realise there is a grey area. it is going to take a long time before i start acting in the grey but at least i know now that it exsits

not sure if that makes any sense but i hope you catch what i mean :D
