Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone out that has dull pain in the back of their sinuses. I do not have a cold or nasal congestion. Just this annoying dull pain, my nose also at most times lately feels sort of numb on one side. I do have Eustachian Tube Disorder and I have a tube in my ear. I am getting a lot of popping noises in my ear lately as well. I have been looking up answers on the internet for sinus pain, and have only found pain due to nasal congestion, which as I stated, I don't have. Do anyone know of another cause for this?
I would be grateful for any adivce.
thanks, tbk

I have sinus pain and problems that are related to TMJ (a disorder of the jaw). My jaw always clicked or popped but never had much pain there. A little over a year ago, I had a headached that lasted two weeks, my jaw popped which released the headache but I've had sinus problems ever since. I usually do not have nasal symptoms. Mostly, sinus-like headaches, post nasal drip and facial pain. I've tested negative for allergies but will do another round of testing just in case.
Do you have any jaw noise or pain? TMJ also causes ear problems such as popping and stuffiness. Just a thought.

Hi Gengrrl,
Thank you for your reply. About 2 years ago I was sent to an ENT doctor, he stated my bite was a bit off and said I had a case of TMJ. I went back to my family doctor and he did not believe this, but he had an Xray done on my jaw and nothing showed up. He said he figured it was my eustachian tube and sent me to another ENT doctor who said it was not TMJ but an Eustachian tube disorder. He then told me to go on allegra, which did not seem to help. I then had a tube put in, that he suggested, but am still having problems. Yes, my jaw pops and I feel some pain sometime when I yawn but other than that I do not seem to have any problems with my jaw. Sometimes you wonder what doctors to believe. It's all trial and error.

Hi again --
My TMJ started when I just had a lot of popping and cracking in/near my jaw. I had very little pain or problems aside from the noisiness. All that changed either from stress or age (I hit 40). I would suggest you find a TMJ specialist who can really diagnose your jaw opening and other measurements. There may be something that can be done now to ease the muscle tension that can be causing your ear pain.
I've noticed other postings from Canada on this board, so you may want to ask if anyone can recommend someone in your area.
Good luck.
