A Personality Disorder is, if I remember correctly, often referred to as an Axis II disorder, unlike an Axis I which is largely biological in nature. Schizophrenia would be Axis I, while "Avoidant Personality Disorder" would be considered Axis II.

Keep in mind that these disorders are largely due to environment, upbringing, and lifestyle. They are difficult to treat, and patients do not respond well to drugs.

I was diagnosed with a Borderline Personality Disorder and Anti-Social Personality Disorder when I was a teenager. Not a good combination for a young woman to say the least.
