I get severe swelling on my lips within 2 to 3 hrs of eating meat (any type) which has been re-heated after cooking. the condition stays for next 5 to 8 hrs then reverts to normal. is there any medicine to avoid this?

Hi,

It sounds as if you may have an allergic reaction to the meat if your lips swell immediately after eating it.

Also, it is never a good idea to re-heat any meat after it has been cooked. Better to eat it cold as you could end up with severe food poisoning which is extremely unpleasant.

Maybe you could try and avoid eating meat and see if your symptoms disappear. If you don't want to do this, then take an antihistamine tablet to help relieve the swelling after eating.

You could also try seeing a doc and getting allergy testing done to see exactly what it is that you are allergic to.

Hope this helps.

I'd go to the Doctor, when I had one case of lip swelling the doctor got very concerned and gave me a prescription for an Epi Pen. He said that it could be just as easily be my tongue!!
